Magnum Opus

Thu Aug 20, 2009, 8:19 PM
I have decided to work diligently on my Magnum Opus... perhaps I'm too young to begin working on it... and it definitely won't be finished anytime soon, or any time later... perhaps MUCH MUCH later, when I'm much older.

It can be one of two things... it can either be set in the same universe as my other stories and tie into them in some way... or I can break my old stories down and fuse them together into this new magnum opus.

What I have planned is a vast adventure of a man with some odd name... I have to make his name cool... something along the lines of Cerpin Taxt... Luke Skywalker... something kinda sci fi sounding.

The man actually will probably be a boy... because I usually like the themes of growing up, loss of innocence, etc. I also want a companion for him.

I want the plot to involve subtle characters who suddenly are revealed to be much more important than the reader originally thought they were. It will combine the genres of science fiction, fantasy, gothic horror, steampunk, adventure, and more.

The character will also meet another character who his later revealed to be an immortal and have seen and adapted to the many changing ages of this world. The world will take place on a planet with various climates like our planet earth, in a steampunk retro-futuristic age, and have a long history that parallels that of planet earth. It will also be set in a binary star system, with two suns.

The plot will involve magic and a journey across the mysterious world, which I will name, and later on the journey will take its heroes into the final frontier of outer space, where ancient artifacts link this planet to the planet 16 Cygni Bb, and possibly lead back to humanity's origin on planet earth.

The antagonist will be a mysterious and darkly charismatic individual posing as an ordinary person but actually having a mysterious past including possible extraterrestrial origin and connection with a greater evil.

Themes of religion, politics, mysticism, occult, horror, and others will be in it, and many events will also be based on inspiration that have come to me during dreams.

Overall, I don't expect this work to be finished very soon at all... But hopefully I can become successful with it.
